There’s yet again reason to celebrate, and this time it’s huge – over 100,000 dogs now have their website on Uniteddogs.

The lucky 100,000th dog is a lovely black cocker spaniel from Spain, named Trufa, by the way. Go pat her, send her virtual gifts and greet her owner.

I remember when I started writing a blog post about the first 10,000 dogs and cats. It was last year in November. This just seems like ages ago. I could not imagine back then what exactly ten thousand dogs and cats meant. Like how big the number was really. Looking back now, it was a tiny number for social networks.

And 100,000 still doesn’t seem THAT much, does it? But… we’re talking about pets not humans. Or, to put it another way – we’re talking about humans with dogs. We just like to think of it this way – we’re not Facebook or MySpace, we’re special And of course, we’re also the web home for a little more than 66,000 cats and kittens.

For the past three weeks the photo contest to find the Supermodels 2009 has been gearing up and now, believe it or not, the Uniteddogs and Unitedcats communities have been buzzing like a bee tree! Who won? More and more anxious waggly tails have been sneaking around and finally, we are revealing the true souls of the Supermodels among us now.

This was our first-to-organize contest that had such high-quality pictures taking part and it was a tremendous success. There were 4176 photos of dogs and 2999 photos of cats taking part. Everyone has a reason to be happy because every single photo was great piece of art on its own. The process of voting was more than fun – we hope you, our users, enjoyed it as much as our team did. Many photos brought a smile on our faces, many more photos simply made our  hearts melt. You can introduce your dog or cat to the whole world as after the finish an e-shop will open it’s magical doors and the calendars of Uniteddogs and Unitedcats Supermodel 2009 will be available for every user on UDC all over the world! UDC team welcomes all our friends to sniff and take a look around at our new home for Polish dogs and cats!

Our sites have been increasing in the number of users so quickly - today there are more than 150 000 pets sharing the big diverse roof of UDC family. Poland is a great country with many pet-lovers – there live all together more than 20 million pets! Therefore we needed to crab at hammers and give a call to a couple of repairmen and build in a special room for our Polish users. Today, we have finished with the annexe and over 200 Polish dogs and 250 cats are now enjoying their life at UDC sites and of course, many more are ought to join UDC Polish version every day now!

Like at other UDC sites, our Polish pet lovers can now create personal profiles for their incredible pets, upload their photos, join clubs, start a free blog for their doggy or kitty, give and receive many fun gifts and as well share their thought and emotions with other users or ask and give advise! Hau-hau!

As UDC’s communities are being discovered by many new members every day now,  our administrative team felt like somebody is missing and decided to enlarge our small team with a new chief technology officer! Let’s welcome our 10th member on team - that’s Martin Henk!

Martin is very talented and experienced - he has been studding marketing and programming, working on developing internet sites as his own start-up www.bronn.ee, Estonian biggest online news portal www.epl.ee and Telecommunication company web page www.elisa.ee. In addition he has been helping many other starting companies and projects to get the ball rolling. Our UDC team is very lucky to have such an activist with great knowledge working among us! That way we can make sure that UDC sites can become even more awesome and find the coolest brand-new solutions for our sites and users too!

This is an innovative slogan of TEHNOPOL - Uniteddogs and Unitedcats’ new home. As Uniteddogs and Unitedcats have been growing as constantly as it’s team, a need for new and bigger rooms was emerged for having greater possibilities to generate and share new awesome ideas! Let’s not forget the fact that our four-legged team members have been yearning for bigger place to fool around too! Riki introduces you his new home!

For couple of weeks now, UDC team has been working in TEHNOPOL. This is an ideal environment for knowledge based companies, providing business development services, setting up in Estonia, international cooperation and business accommodation. It is situated in Tallinn, in Musta­mäe, in the same campus with the Tallinn University of Technology, IT College, different research institutes, students hostels and sports facilities next to nice parks for sports and leisure.

The atmosphere here is superb - we are surrounded by ~12000 students and ~1100 researchers. This helps us to meat our inspiration and therefore develop faster among all these great thoughts. Today TEHNOPOL has about 36 000 square meters of office and leisure time space. There are 140 tenant companies like Skype, Cybernetica, Celecure and 22 other companies in business incubator in addition to United Dogs and Cats Ltd.

The business incubator where UDC is located is cooperating with the alternative in USA - Silicon Valley. This park hosts many starting companies as well already successfully developed ones - for instance Google.

During the next five years Tallinn Technology Park TEHNOPOL faces an overwhelming development of infrastructure. By the year 2010 first two buildings will be completed and by the end of the year 2013 the overall number of tenant companies will increase up to 200.

Today, Uniteddogs’ and Unitedcats’ whole team has settled in at our new office. There is still a lot of things to finish - for example our four-legged members are waiting for their special corner to get ready, so a decent housewarming could be held in the middle of a decent pile of doggie-gifts of course! At the same time rest of the crew greets the flow of new enthralling ideas with enthusiasm and hopes to share the great product of the local-ideas-generating-environment with all of you very soon!

In the beginning of July, a wonderful event was held in Stockholm - World Dog Show 2008! Our small team was present as well and at last, we are eager to tell you all about it!

To be more precise, pictures will have the power to describe that great show the best. But still, our team would like to share our own thrills and highlights from that trip to Sweden!

The place where the show was taking place was just enormous and at first, it actually swept all of us off our feet! And wow, how many beautiful dogs there were!? As you can see from the gallery, we saw absolutely all kinds of dogs there - long-haired, short-haired, very fast and also sleepy ones, bitty and dancing ones, chalky and coal black, more or less simple and glamorous ones! So we just could not get enough from taking photographs and so we went on and on… We got many new friends and met a super huge amount of new friendly dogs and their owners and of course the team of Uniteddogs members was not missing this event eather - UDC greetings to all of you!

After a while we were lucky to upload these pictures and now we want to take you on tour to have fun and enjoy this dog-heavenly event over here! You can see the pictures in the Gallery at Photos section as well!
